Hi there!
I'm Maria,
a New York City–based photographer and videographer with 13+ years of experience creating portraits, performance imagery, promotional content, and visual stories for dancers, artists, brands, and creative productions.
My foundation is movement and performance. Before working behind the camera, I trained and worked professionally in contemporary dance and also worked as a model, appearing in runway shows and fashion shoots. I later choreographed live performances, music videos, and fashion productions, including Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Moscow. Working on both sides of the lens taught me to read body language, anticipate movement, and understand what helps someone feel natural and confident in front of the camera.
Today, that experience shapes the way I photograph people. I can guide dancers, models, performers, and clients through movement, posing, and visual concepts when a shoot calls for direction. I’m equally comfortable working unobtrusively within an unfolding scene—capturing authentic expressions, candid moments, and the atmosphere surrounding a performance or production without interrupting it.
My work spans portraiture, dance, fashion, live performance, backstage and event coverage, promotional imagery, social content, and video. I work with individual dancers, companies, theaters, directors, and creative teams, supporting projects from the initial concept and capture through post-production and final delivery.
Whether I’m creating images for a performer’s portfolio, documenting a live production, or developing visual content for a company or campaign, my goal is the same: to create thoughtful, expressive work that feels intentional, honest, and alive.
Q: What types of photography sessions do you offer?
Q: I’m a competitive dancer — how is this different from my competition photos?
Q: What if I don’t have modeling experience?
A: No problem at all! I specialize in working with dancers and creatives of all experience levels. I’ll direct you through poses, movement, and expressions so you feel confident and natural in front of the camera. You don’t need modeling experience, just an openness to move and create and my job is to make you look and feel your best on camera. And don’t worry — I’m a former dancer and model myself, so I know exactly how to capture the angles that flatter you the most and highlight your strengths, skills, and artistry.
